YOU MOTHERFUCKS…
So.. i recieved an email earlier from a company i purchased a domain name through earlier this year. i was so pissed off when i read it. the text is listed below along with my response email. anyone who is bored enough to read it will understand my frustration, but mainly i am posting this just to vent.
Here is my response email and the original text of the email minus addresses of course:
Date: Aug 19, 2006 4:33 PM Subject: Re: August Special: Is Your Personal Information Exposed? Protect yourself with Domain Privacy
ok.
You guys just officially pissed me off.
guess what? i was going to let it slide, then i recieved ths email..originally i signed up with your company under the assumption i could set the DNS to the webspace i had already purchased elsewhere. after realizing i had misread the agreement, i found i could pay a yearly fee to do so, or grab some webspace through aplus. it was cheaper to create a duplicate registration through another company and have a couple years of dns routing.
through your company i registered “Fnord-inc.com”
through honestnetworks.com i registered “fnordinc.com” (notice the missing hyphen)
after i registered a domain name through your company i began recieving information from credit card companies and the like who were attempting to get me and my “company” to work with them in an effort to protect myself, my livelyhood, and my employees. nearly every piece of mail i have recieved (at my home) contains information relating back directly to the domain name that i registered through aplus. many of them just mention Fnord Inc, so at first i was unsure who could have done it. after a while i noticed a trend of companies sending paperwork referencing “ fnord-inc.com” along with the address. no such infomration has arrived with the web address sans hyphen.. this means you guys are the verified culprits.
as stated before, i was going to ignore it and just say fuck it, that sucks but there is nothing i can do about it. now my thoughts are as such… fuck you… how dare you sell/give my information to numerous companies and then follow up my sending out the replied to email this is attached to. YOUR COMPANY automatically (by way of the history of my account) falls in line with “Hackers, spammers, and rip-offs” by your own marketing description.
I spoke with an individual at aplus by the name of Mike (also CC’d) and he was able to talk me down before through an apology. until this email was recieved, i was complacent and not going to pursue a resolution. he is a good guy. i did describe to him that i planned to have my account sit unused until the registration expires in 1 and a half years. i also described having no interest in further sales contact or marketing as i was displeased with the company.
I am carbon copying this email to an “escalation queue” at aplus and would like to know how your company can resolve this or make this up to me. i am calling you out and pointing out your folly. this is not a threat or a fault being thrown out against the individuals that this is being emailed to, instead it is an OPPORTUNITY for you to get off your asses and fill a massive customer service issue that you can now resolve. i would love to see a resolution but so will EVERY FUTURE CUSTOMER YOU HAVE.
In a time where identity theft is rampant, the last thing we need it some bastard company passing it out like people are trying out for the part and need time to practice. “come on in guys, today you will play Jason Brown.. even if you dont get the part you can still try to play him in your off time..”
I expect to hear back from one of you by the end of monday, the next valid business day, even if it is just to say you are still investigating. each week i expect and update after that. with an escalation queue, and two individuals involved, i expect this will not be easily ignored or followed up on in the amount of time.
thank you and good day.
Jason Brown

Protect yourself. Don’t let hackers and spammers make their money by selling your personal information. Get Aplus.Net’s Domain Privacy protection today and SAVE: Was $8.95 , Now Just $4.95! Dear Jason Brown:Hackers, spammers, and rip-offs make their living selling your personal information. How can this be? It’s simple: A physical address, email address, and phone number are required with each domain name registration. This information is collected by ICANN, the organization that oversees domain names and IP addresses, and kept in WHOIS, a widely accessible database used as an administrative “phone book” to verify domain name holders.Unfortunately, this data is easy to hack and exploit. Having your private information on public display leaves you open to the risk of annoying spam, or, even worse, identity theft. Aplus.Net’s Domain Privacy service protects you by acting as a stand-in. Instead of your personal information, we list our information. The domain is yours. The risk is ours. You motherfucks is right. I wonder if you could do something about them under the law. I mean, with the patriot act it isn’t too ridiculous to think so.
