Lord bless this 7-layer burrito

September 21st, 2006

I went to Toxic Hell today and bought lunch.. I was poor and hungry, can’t fault a guy for making brash decisions in a hunger crisis. What blew me away was the wondeful thing i saw while i was there. At the table next to me, i witnessed a family of four prayin’ before they ate, arms folded elbows on the table style prayer.

I could not hear what they said, and would not want to intrude as much to hear either. I have nothing but respect for people who can pray in public and not disturb others while doing it. hell, it takes a lot to have that kind of faith.Now.. not knowing what they were saying, i have to imagine it instead.

“Dear Lord, bless this 7-layer burrito that it will nourish us and make us strong. We remember you, Lord, as we eat the seventh layer as it is your layer, and your number. Please remember our hardships and give us your grace to make our fiesta salsa (pico) full of life and flavor….

Ok everyone, eat up.. if you finish your food, maybe we can get God to treat us to Empanadas! ”

I don’t think that even God could make”the Bell” healthy and nourishing….

Light Pollution

Last night i was outside talking on the phone with Mouse. i have a tendency to let my eyes wander in these instances. I looked up into the sky and was very excited becuase i could see 4 stars in the sky..

what the fuck? excited to see four stars? i told her about them and suddenly felt very foolish. What would i have said five years ago living in Utah? Perhaps something like, hmm, where are all the stars… If i were to tell somene in a rural part of the world that i had discovered 4 stars int he sky and become excited, they possibly would have mocked me or felt bad for my loss…
Three years ago, i wanted to see stars with my girlfriend at the time. we drove outside the city (portland) and kept driving. 45 minutes later and a good distance away, we were able to view this a mind boggling number of them. but they were still fairly blotted out by the city lights nearly an hour away.

fucking lights.. i wonder what i could do to help limit the wasted light that is affecting my area…

Liquid - Live.jpgYouTube comes through again with badass music. The Tube brings you basically a whole Liquid Tension Experiments concert in a small venue. In fact, not just a small venue, but the NAMM in 1999.. the 3rd show they ever did. Mistakes are made and it still sounds awesome :)

Granted, the video and audio on these are so so, but you cant help but love it if you are into the prog rock. I have linked directly to one video and we will let you go to thoe others if you would like to.

For the unfamiliar, Liquid Tension Experiment is an offshoot from Dream Theater. Three DT band members and Tony Levin (who has played with more bands than i can possibly name here) are the core of the band.

Date of show: 1/30/1999 Los Angeles, CA
Venue: NAMM
Time: sometime after @am from what Tony’s website says.

Set List:
1. Osmosis
2. Paradigm Shift
3. Biaxident
4. Mike & Tony
5. Universal Mind
6. Acid Rain

Lineup-
Guitar: John Petrucci
Keyboards: Jordan Rudess
Bass: Tony Levin
Drums: Mike Portnoy

I have ripped the Mono Audio from these videos and converted them to dual channel MP3. On each file, the right Channel has been inverted to cancel out some of the spatial noise, nice side effect is that it does not sound as flat when listening to it. Biaxident has an annoying high tone at the beginning that i could not remove.

If the file ends up offline and you want it, let me know through a comment with your email in the field provided and i will reupload and notify you.

Click the image above for a quick cover I made for it.

The song below is “Acid Rain” commercially found on the “Liquid Tension Experiments 2″ album

WOO HOO!

i got a new bike on friday and have been out and a bout a lot in the last couple days. I rode to work today and was comfy the whole way. For anyone interested, here is a link to their site www.HamptonCruiser.com please ignore their gay ass anime marketing style, this in no way reflects the badassness of the bike itself.

The above is the classic style, it rides reeeeally nice cost about $210 at 7-Corners Bike and Fitness (http://www.7-corners.com). If you ever get the chance to go in there, they have excellent service, discounts for folks who buy bikes there, they know their shit and they are not pushy in the slightest, what more can you ask for?.. well a kick ass bike to boot of course!
click the cut below to check out the stats for the lovely little thing :)

The colors listed do not include my fantastic lime green seen above. Continue reading »
