Audio / Video syncronization
BACKGROUND:
I was attempting to disprove the Pink Floyd theory stating they intentionally created “Dark Side of the Moon” to match up with “The Wizard of OZ”. During this process, I found just how easy it was to take any random section of video from a movie or TV series and sync it up with music. Generally this can be done in a matter of 3-10 minutes depending on the music collection available. This video is one example of what I have found.
There are other notable syncronizations out there. many can be located on YouTube or Google video. Here are SOME examples:
The final segment 2001 Space Odyssey sync’d with Floyd’s song Echoes. This was by far better than any OZ segment hands down.
(Watch Video, 25 minutes)
The full Contact scene where Jodie Foster goes through space can by sync’d with Echoes as well, it is also far superior to OZ.
(Search Youtube for “Contact Echoes”)
The 1992 film Baraka created by Ron Fricke has been sync’d up with the whole Flaming Lips album At War with the Mystics. This is a pretty phenomenal way to watch the film to be sure. The opening song will always be the epitome of syncronization.
(Google Video, 56 min) / (http://www.atwarwithbaraka.com/ contains a downloadable divx version)
No footage or music here is claimed to be owned by myself but is being used in a manner that falls well with in the grey area of fair use.
More videos to follow later as I make them :)
Sync percentages:
Video 1: 70% sync, humorous, couldnt sync the initial 30-40 seconds
Video 2: 85% sync, I really enjoyed making this one
Video 3: 70% sync, The music changes this whole clip. some places fit, and where it doesnt, it doesnt matter :) pay special attention to the change over where John Goodman enters for his bit part.
