OK.
So, Walter Matthau was born Oct 1st 1920. He supposedly died July 2000. I say supposedly because anyone who has been paying attention knows that Hussein was removed from power prior to Sept 2001. He was killed and replaced by an actor who the world had already said goodbye to.
Walter has now been wrongfully hung from the gallows by people who were led to believe that he was more than just a puppet of the US Gov.
Some may say that this is silly or improbable. I say, we helped put Saddam in power, why wouldnt we have the same power to replace him with someone who would read our scripts?

We will miss you Saddam Walter!

Audio / Video syncronization

December 29th, 2006

dsofr1.jpgBACKGROUND:
I was attempting to disprove the Pink Floyd theory stating they intentionally created “Dark Side of the Moon” to match up with “The Wizard of OZ”. During this process, I found just how easy it was to take any random section of video from a movie or TV series and sync it up with music. Generally this can be done in a matter of 3-10 minutes depending on the music collection available. This video is one example of what I have found.

There are other notable syncronizations out there. many can be located on YouTube or Google video. Here are SOME examples:

The final segment 2001 Space Odyssey sync’d with Floyd’s song Echoes. This was by far better than any OZ segment hands down.
(Watch Video, 25 minutes)

The full Contact scene where Jodie Foster goes through space can by sync’d with Echoes as well, it is also far superior to OZ.
(Search Youtube for “Contact Echoes”)

The 1992 film Baraka created by Ron Fricke has been sync’d up with the whole Flaming Lips album At War with the Mystics. This is a pretty phenomenal way to watch the film to be sure. The opening song will always be the epitome of syncronization.
(Google Video, 56 min) / (http://www.atwarwithbaraka.com/ contains a downloadable divx version)

No footage or music here is claimed to be owned by myself but is being used in a manner that falls well with in the grey area of fair use.

More videos to follow later as I make them :)

Sync percentages:
Video 1: 70% sync, humorous, couldnt sync the initial 30-40 seconds
Video 2: 85% sync, I really enjoyed making this one
Video 3: 70% sync, The music changes this whole clip. some places fit, and where it doesnt, it doesnt matter :) pay special attention to the change over where John Goodman enters for his bit part.

pretty good day

December 20th, 2006

today has been relaxing and nice. I have been busy as hell and yet i am not feeling it.

there are two reasons for this.. $40 in coffee and a candle lit lunch. both are described below.
coffee

a few days back it was decided that the coffee robot at my work was eating the proverbial ass, and then made the coffee we wanted. we recently switched beans and performed a massive overhaul cleaning of the robot and for a month or so, the coffee was palatable. now it is back to nasty sludge. to resolve this, i brought in my french press and decided i would make good coffee every day and remove the robot from my personal coffee drinking equation.the roasts that we have in office are so/so. the better of the two is a dark roast kilimanjaro. my french press and i sculpted a beautiful scoop of the grounds. unfortunately, the grind was too fine. so i had to rig an additional filter for the press. the coffee was significantly better, but not awesome.

i decidd as a holiday treat, i would buy awesome coffee and make it worth my time to drink it. here comes the $40. Jamaican Blue Mountain beans..

24 hours has passed since i placed my order. the beans arrived today, fresh and wonderful. my mouth is watering from delight as i drink and smell the air. the office smells pleasant and everyone seems to enjoy having it in the air. worth every penny i say.

i went to lunch today and the power was out. we went to a sandwich shop and halfway there we noticed that no traffic lights were working. it was cold outside and we were determined to see if they were open regardless of the electrical issues.they were. we entered the “taste tickler” sandwich shop and they advised that they had limited hot sandwiches and all cold sandwiches available. i ordered a teriyaki chicken sammich.

they gave us a candle for our table so we could sit inside and enjoy our meal.

Looks like they got my point clearly. i recieved a dollar via the regular old mail system. a note was attached advising how it should be shipped… now.. was i the only one with this treatment?

This is a question i would really like to know the answer to
