This shit pisses me off

September 18th, 2007 by erisian

**EDIT:9/19/07
many news orgs have now found
information showing that this student
has rabblerouser tendencies that
have been displayed numerous times
in the past. the fact that receiving
attention may have been his whole
goal sucks, but he still asked questions
that should be answered.

side note, why did this not provoke
action from the crowd? are they that
afraid to assist a person wrongfully
being accosted?

Whe i am on the ground for asking the
wrong questions, i hope one of you will
have my back..

~~~
For anyone that hasnt seen this stuff yet, information is linked below.
Why is it so terrible to ask a question? or three? In the same situation, I would be the one being tazed. I would have asked those questions. I would (and do) want to know why Kerry backed out of a race that he said he would count every vote on, when there was evidence supporting further investigation.
Any story he gives (whether it be the ex-wife with cancer, or the i lost a fair fight story) rings untrue and makes him appear to be assisting in garaunteeing a ONE party race. it makes too much sense, if you have a two party race, you have a possibility to lose, but if you rig it, and your opponent will go out in the last round, regardless of the results…
back on topic, what makes it okay to throw a man to the ground (yes, he was resisting arrest, so fucking what) for asking a question? Now two questions are on the table. John Kerry needs to answer his, and the University of Florida needs to answer is “WHAT the FuCK??”
people often say that High School is where you are taught to follow directions, but College is where you learn how to think. If this is the case, what are we supposed to learn here?
As the person who filmed this event. I would like to say that although Andrew may appear to be a conspiracy theorist, he still was accosted by the police after Senator Kerry said he wanted to hear the question. If Accent Speakers Bureau had allowed all those standing in line to ask questions, this never would have happened. Unless of course the police would have stepped in anyway.
From CNN:
GAINESVILLE, Florida (AP) — A University of Florida student was Tasered and arrested after trying to ask U.S. Senator John Kerry about the 2004 election and other subjects during a campus forum.
Videos of the incident posted on several Web sites show officers pulling Andrew Meyer, 21, away from the microphone after he asks Kerry about impeaching President Bush and whether he and Bush were both members of the secret society Skull and Bones at Yale University.
“He apparently asked several questions — he went on for quite awhile — then he was asked to stop,” university spokesman Steve Orlando said. “He had used his allotted time. His microphone was cut off, then he became upset.”
As two officers take Meyer by the arms, Kerry, D-Massachusetts, is heard to say, “That’s alright, let me answer his question.” Audience members applaud, and Meyer struggles to escape for several seconds as up to four officers try to remove him from the room.
Meyer screams for help and asks “What did I do?” as he tries to break away from officers. He is forced to the ground and officers order him to stop resisting. Meyer says he will walk out if the officers let him go.
As Kerry tells the audience he will answer the student’s “very important question,” Meyer struggles on the ground and yells at the officers to release him, crying out, “Don’t Tase me, bro,” just before he is Tasered. He is then led from the room, screaming, “What did I do?”
Meyer was charged with resisting an officer and disturbing the peace, according to Alachua County jail records. No bond had been set. Meyer was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning, a jail official said.
It was not known if Meyer had an attorney.
Orlando said university police would conduct an internal investigation.
“The police department does have a standard procedure for when they use force, including when they use a Taser,” Orlando said. “That is what the internal investigation would address — whether the proper procedures were followed, whether the officers acted appropriately.”
“I believe I could have handled the situation without interruption,” Kerry said in a statement issued Tuesday, “but again I do not know what warnings or other exchanges transpired between the young man and the police prior to his barging to the front of the line and their intervention.”
“I was not aware that a taser was used until after I left the building,” Kerry’s statement said. “I hope that neither the student nor any of the police were injured. I regret enormously that a good healthy discussion was interrupted.”
    I’m not to pissed off after reading another article that states that this guy is a known prankster who had someone videoing this from the start with the intent of getting in the news. I will admit that tasering him might have been a little on the strong side, but I think he’s nothing more than an inconsiderate asshole there for his own glory and thinking nothing of the others present wishing to exercise their own freedom of speech wanting answers.
    I know a lot of you won’t agree with me, but tough shit. I have my perceptions and I’m not going to change God Dammit.
    ps thanks to fnordinc for letting me have my say.
    I am just glad to hear that someone was championing the point that kerry backed out before following up on shady voter business; this has been an issue that has never been resolved, and I am glad/ proud that you brought it up originally.
    just to let everyone know, i not championing Kerry. I just wonder about the guys motivation in the whole thing. If the questions were that important, why didn’t he ask them first and not when his alloted time was up?
    Erisian, it seems I need to get some pepper spray and a better crowbar so I can get your back if you ever feel the need to ask a question…
    I don’t think Erisian has ever worried about asking questions or what the consequences might be. He’s done that all his life. But it’s good you’ve got his back. Now if someone will just get his front so his new pretty nose doesn’t get bent again will be helpful.
    FYI - he’s also had some of my pepper spray before, he just forgets to have it ready before he opens his mouth.
