moving to a new house, feeling nostalgic
So, Jenn and i have been looking at houses to move into. we need someplace that will allow us the room to have our animals and not go crazy. finding a house removes so many issues due to timing, wasted days off etc.Well, we found someplace, and we got approved to move into the property. we will be getting keys on the first of next month. Our new house is out in Beaverton, but the pro’s of the situation outweigh the cons so we are both happy with the outcome.
i have lived in the same area for 3-4 years now.. feeling nostalgic, with the upcoming move out of my neighborhood, i was looking at some satellite images of different property’s online. i started thinking about how many times i have moved in my life. and decided, hey… lets see what things look like at some of the places i used to live/where family used to live.
i ended up browsing google and looking at my grandpa’s old house. it is the house that family grew up in for many years in mapleton utah. it was the last house that grandma betty lived in. where pepsi the goat raised hell and mice could be found nested comfortably in old vacuum cleaners. i have a ton of good memories of this house. i have even more at the house with grandma marilyn though, and i am glad that their locations are completely separated.
Using google, i was surprised to see that it looks very different than when i was younger.
seems like they turned it into some kind of duplex. there are a number of trees and it is a different color.
next time i am in town, i wonder if they would let me come hang out on the porch for a while.

Similarly so with the old Cutler address.
Cutler looks nearly the same as when i was growing up. the porch that mom and dad made is still there. the railings, the color schema.the strip of grass that phreekachu and i would have water drinking contests on, back before we knew you could die from drinking too much water :)
parents bedroom on the top left, girls in the top right.
i wish i could see the backyard too.. i miss that place.
Updates, laziness and overwhelming
april has not been much of a month for updating.
a whole lot happened, but due to the fact so much happened, i was overwhelmed and uable to post info about it.saw the traveling broadway sweeny todd musical. went to circque de soliel, family came to visit, work has been hellish, also got let go from one of my two jobs, and we are looking for a house to rent and that is a whole barrel of fun, let me tell you…
my website turned ugly and i have only recently had time to fix it. upgraded to a new version of WP and it all went to pot.bear with me folks. i will be back on the ball soon.in the meantime, i will try to pull myself back together
let me know what you think of the new layout, colors etc..requires 1024×769 screen resolution or higher..figured that anyone who has 800×600 or lower should decide to upgrade, even the donated free monitors at the local cafe can manage 1024×768.. get with the times and retire the dinosaurs.
quote in the top left is from Deep Purple.

i feel much better now/ Books from years ago…
after reading that terrible book Suck, i mean Sock, i needed to clean my brain out for another book. Jenn had bought me a copy of Louis Sachar’s There’s a boy in the girls bathroom so i decided i should revert to a prior age and give a good once over. thank you goodwill for having it lying around :)
I have not read this book in so many years, it really came to me as if i had never read it at all.
Louis Sachar is the guy who wrote Holes (made into a movie a few years back) and Sideways stories from Wayside School. He is a Lawyer who decided children’s fiction was a nice fit for him as an occupation, and i fully agree. i have always been a fan of his books, especially the Wayside School series.
Girls Bathroom is a story of a boy with the lowest self esteem ever who fights against everything, has imaginary friends and lies like no other.he is forced to go to a school counselor and over the course of the book grows up a little and finds out how to interact in society. man. this is a damn good book. t is funny, even for an adult, and i was surprised by how well the “moral of the story” was incorporated into a kid friendly story.
Over the years i have been slowly building up my collection of good children’s books, books i enjoyed as a kid and would love others to read. the goal is that someone comes over to my place and has no need to turn on the TV because regardless of their gender or age, there are tons of incredible books to read. the words “i’m bored” would be met with “have you read this? it is really really good”
recently i last year i read Judy Blume’s Superfudge and it is really what started the idea. i laughed and really had a good time reading it, even though i read it rather quickly and it was far below my reading level. next in the list will likely be some William Sleator books like House of Stairs, Singularity, the Green Futures of Tycho, and Interstellar Pig (which recently had a sequel written for it). I absorbed this write almost through osmosis when i was a kid. special thanks to my dad for handing me Interstellar Pig in the library as a kids and telling me it looked good. Much appreciation for you and mom putting up with us kids, our voracious appetite for books, and the common place trips to the Springville library where we had a 10 book limit on ourcheck outs (parent imposed limit)
mmm.. Suck has been washed from my tastebuds and replaced with non-suck happiness.
excellent.
