PD James… cant say i am a fan.. i have read one or two of her novels, and they are all very interesting, but not a style i enjoy reading. In her mystery novels, investigator Adam Dalgliesh is an excellent character, and the plot lines are excellent, but i find her writing style tiresome and very “unexcellent”. typically, getting 50 pages into one of her novels is a challenge for me. by page 50 i have enough of the plot in view that i can slog through the rest of it. as a result of these past experiences, i put off reading this a great number of times.
The Children of Men was greatly different. Throughout the initial 50 pages, I… Read the rest
Again, late due to technical difficulties.. anyone with a need for something fun to do this Saturday or Sunday afternoon, read this over and give it a thought!
Jenn and i went to check out Trek in the Park last Sunday afternoon. Basically, a local theater group has been getting together over the last couple years and performing live a live rendition of old star trek episodes.
The episode this year was “Amok Time”. For those unaware, do you remember the third star trek movie “The Search for Spock”? part way through that film, the recently reborn spock is in terrible terrible pain as he ages. he reaches Pon Farr, which is the point in the Vulcan growth cycle when they MUST mate with whomever they are bonded to. if not, they die. The episode “Amok Time” is where this biological heat is first discussed. up till this point, no… Read the rest
Had a busy weekend. also was inundated with extra work.. regardless, if i had not had some massive site hosting issues(which are still occurring), this info would have been up earlier.
Jenn and i went to the Highland games, a Scottish Festival, on Saturday. no photos as i didnt care to have my camera out. good times in all. i highly suggest going next year to anyone in the area.

here is a list of books i have read in the last year that i WANT to write a review for but as of yet have been too damn lazy. this is not a complete list of books read, just books that i felt like talking about… you know, before that whole lazy bits previously mentioned. I figure at least mentioning them will make me feel a little better.
So that people will not get the wrong impression, i am including a quick blurb describing my feelings. if i can do a full review sometime, i will. there are other books i read in this time frame, but they were either unimpressive (good or bad) and i wont waste your time with them
Links to reviews of other books in series, or by the same authors are used for now. so follow links if you want :)
[EDIT] – damn..… Read the rest
