with only hours to go before the beginning of a new decade, i can only hope that we are leaning toward a future with less idiots. to be honest, there is only one way i know of that will ensure that there are fewer… the obliteration of the human race.
its not that i hope we all die, its just that there is really no other way that we could be done with the crap people push. automation and the death of humans is the only choice.

Nazim Tulyakhodzayev’s rendition of There will come soft rains (by Ray Bradbury)
Created in 1984, it is a true tribute to the tale.
Bardbury’s story is available in the collection of short stories “The Martian Chronicles”
It is also a standalone book put out by Perfection Learning as part of the “Trail Blazers: American Literature” collection
Mr. Bradbury.. call me.. i want to buy you a good cup of joe…
The story is a post apocalyptic tale of a “smart house” (before they got the name of course) which goes about it’s duties after everyone has been wiped out. At one point the house computer recites Emily Teasdale’s poem “There will come soft rains” to the children whom it assumes are just being quiet.
Sarah Teasdale’s wrote:
There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;
And frogs in the pools singing at night,
And wild plum trees in tremulous white;
Robins will wear their feath’ry fire
Whistling their whims on a low fence wire;
And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done.
Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree
If mankind perished utterly;
And Spring herself, when she awoke at dawn,
Would scarcely know that we were gone.
I figure if it is being made available by a school district, i can link it. there are versions all over the place but i like this one the best.. big thanks to the Glastonbury public school district :) (wink wink nudge)
Though not public domain, you can read a full copy of the story here [download]
