Friend of mine, Iggy, bought a new phone that is about the same size as a school lunch tray. I am actually envious of it. There are various aspects of it that make the geek in me a bit wet.
Is a Samsung galaxy note which he had to import.
1- it’s akin to a damn school lunch tray! I know I already mentioned it but it was worth repeating
2- it giggles when you push it’s buttons like a hyperactive Japanese school girl, which makes sense since the Japanese are prone to putting temper-mental demons and ghosts into their gizmos. Perhaps giggles is too specific, but it does give pleasant feedback.
3- it is allergic to peanuts so it will never steal a persons yummy pbj at lunch
4- in December 2012 he can use it to shield himself from meteorites. If he gets sent to the wall to battle wights and wildlings, he will be similarly safe. Lose a tennis racket, covered.
5- given enough force, he could bludgeon a zombie to death and then post about it on Facebook using screen real estate that is free of gore (see lunch tray note)
See what I mean? Awesome! Envy! I mean I love my phone (heck, I am on it right now) but one must pay tribute to geekery when the time is appropriate, which is now.
It should be noted that cell calls would be a lot like talking to a roof shingle.
Bluetooth all the way….

it’s so thin and angular it could be an axe head or throwing ‘tangle; look out zombies.
this winter i hope to use it on mt. hood, as my snowboard!
but seriously the overall experience is lacking until ICS is released/ported to it.
please let me know if you use it as a snowboard. i would love to see that.
you could also probably put it on your living room floor and play dance dance revolution on it.. DDR ftw
I got me a samsung Infuse, so very similar. It’s a very nice thin light phone until i put an otter box cover on it. People say whoa – what is that? I just say it’s my new boat.If I kept a few pencils on me,I’m sure I could row to safety in a flood.
does the otter make it that much bigger?
hey.. i am surprised you can use it as a raft.. i would think it would sink…
