so what does it all mean anyways

you try so hard to keep people in your life that help give it meaning. the ones that are supposed to be your strongest allies spend a few months in turmoil completely hating you and asking you to “understand”. so you try and try and try. it is harder than anything you have ever done.. what happens when you reach the point where you are no longer able to understand?

i have recently been going through this. i want my friend back. i want to know that we are going to be okay. i want her to stop hating me. like a cruel dog owner and a yappy puppy,  i am tired of being beaten and then petted and cooed. i may have to cut ties and run soon. bite the master and leave before the backlash. time to make the beta male go to sleep and let loose an alpha that i an never prove is inside.

this shit sucks.

Requesting Feedback - editing bootleg concerts

for over a year now i have been listening to a bootleg three disc concert that had King Crimson opening for TOOL [more info here at an earlier post]. the sound is decent quality for a bootleg and it is very enjoyable.

I was talking to Befril and phreekachu a couple weeks back and it came up in discussion. There is really only one aspect of the concert that makes me unhappy. throughout all three discs, at points where the music lulls or gets soft, there is some douchebag that screams out above the crowd and comes close to making me want to hunt him down and knock his block off. he yells out “fuck you!” and “West side!” and just is being a general prick.

i decided i could edit his dumb ass out. this is where the conundrum comes in.

• is it right to mess with this? it is after all the only such recording available.. As the person involved is not adding to the show, and is hindering the enjoyment of the recording, would this be the same as cleaning minor errors or watermarks from a digital photograph? I could see him being left in if this were a recording of a political debate but here? would editing him out change the feel of the show when listening to it? if the recording device had been 200 people to the left or right, he would no longer exist in the recording….
• do i edit him out? i can do so with out damaging the audio, and have done such things in the past when needed.

any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

part of the dilemma comes from a desire to preserve the recording as original work, the other part says, get rid of the drunk bastard and make this as close to sparkling as you can.

to be honest, i lost steam on this.. i spent a couple hours working on it and then i said fuck it, i have books to read, movies to watch, and records to listen to.. then i never got back around to working on it.

thats okay, there was likely nothing there to begin with.. but sometimes you have to really hope that some assclown band put a little more thought and effort into the piece of shit they call music and that you might find a gem in the middle of it. instead, you have a poppy dance song with the same line repeated 144 times and a likely some subliminal message somewhere that says “buy our record, buy our record” in time with the music. even years after the song came out, i still cant get it… i feel a little ill in fact.

i dig on a lot of daft punk, over sampled barry manilow and all… but my preference is “Daft Punk is playing at my house” by LCD Soundsystem.. and all that is involved there would be their name..

new bike and bad hummer

ever since i wrecked my bike at the “Bad Spot” , it has been having all sorts of difficulties. to swap the long for the short, when i went to ride my beautiful happy bike on saturday night, i found it disintegrating in my fingers (oh the drama).

Took the green machine to the doctor (7 corners bike shop) and they are going to give it a good once over and fix the beast up….

in the mean time, i needed a ride to work. what a perfect time to buy a second bicycle!

When i ride it i feel like the love child between pee wee herman and evel knievel!

Sub note. some asshole with a hummer had the greatest license plate ever. picture taken outside the cafe. he looked pissed that i was snapping shots of his yellow demon. what a douche bag. Jawni couldnt stop laughing when he saw it :)
